Galley

Stove

The raised galley area is well appointed and spacious. It has a propane fueled, four burner stove with oven. There is an illuminated gas supply switch which must be turned on prior to use and turned off afterwards. To light a stove ring, press down the appropriate control knob, turn to the right and light the burner. Continue to press the control knob down for a further 10 to 15 seconds while the thermocouple heats up then release. The thermocouple is a safety device that shuts off the gas supply should the flame blow out.

To light the oven, open the door fully, press in the control knob and turn to ignite. Hold the control knob in for 10 to 15 seconds then release.

Always exercise extreme caution when using the cooking equipment on the boat. If you suspect a gas build up or leak of any kind, do not light any naked flames, shut off the gas supply at the cylinder, open the ventilation hatches and contact our base staff.

Refrigeration

There is a large, top opening freezer and a front opening refrigerator situated on the starboard side of the galley. Both these units are 12 volt, electrically operated and have separate thermostatic controls. The increments on the thermostat control range from zero to 7, this being the coldest. The cold plates are the same in the fridge and freezer so make sure to set each one accordingly. The main breakers for both units are mounted on the panel above the chart table, both should be switched on before use. As with all refrigerators they work best when full rather than half empty. It will take a few hours for your newly purchased provisions to freeze down when you first join the boat. Towards the end of your charter you will find it more efficient to pack your provisions into one unit and turn the other off at the breaker panel

Sink & Storage Lockers

The stainless steel sink has a mixer tap and there is a separate, recessed draining board. Storage for crockery is above the work surfaces and the cupboards below hold saucepans, cutlery and food stuffs. Cleaning products are stored below the sinks and there is a trash receptacle positioned on the aft end of the central work surface.

Please dispose of all trash at designated areas, your local base staff will advise you as to where these are located.

There is a hatch with teak grating fitted in the galley sole, this can be opened to provide extra ventilation but make sure it is closed and locked before sailing.

The VOYAGE 440 has a 1 cu ft microwave oven. As with all electrical appliances the power draw has to be monitored to avoid draining the batteries excessively. Below the microwave are two storage draws the lower of which holds the saucepans and frying pans.

B.B.Q. Grill.

As part of the cooking equipment there is an on deck propane BBQ. This all stainless steel grill fastens to its own pedestal on the dive platform and attaches to the gas supply via a quick connect coupler. It has a separate solenoid control switch in the galley to isolate the gas supply at the cylinder and a shut of valve in the port engine compartment.
